If you don't measure your progress, you can not tell if you are still on the right path towards your goal. And if you don't even have a goal or a plan to get there, you have no guidance on which step to take next, because no step is better than the other.
We can measure by writing down how we spent our day.
Keeping track of 100 different things that you did each day, and at what precise time, can be too much, since it robs you of the overview.
Sometimes it is better to use a simple tally, with every dash meaning "1 hour sport/gym", "1 hour thesis", "I did something to clean the house today" etc.
